VIVO IPL ELECTION SE SELECTION

IPL 2018 is going to start from 4th April till 27th May and excitement is on the peak. This is going to be the 11th season of IPL which was established in 2007 by BCCI. There will be home-and-away and double round-robin format for the tournaments. In this type of tournaments, each team will be facing all the other teams for two times. They are given aggregate points during the playoffs. Based on the aggregate points, the top 4 teams will be heading for the semi-finale. The top two teams who are called Qualifier 1 will compete each other and the remaining two teams who are called Eliminator will see each other in the semi-finale. The winner of the Qualifier 1 directly heads to the finale. The losing team plays another match with the winning team of the Eliminator. The winner secures its position in the finale.

Normally, a team can get its players from signing replacements for the players who are unavailable, the annual player auction or trading players with the rest of the teams during trading windows. The players sign up for participating in the auction and also decide the base price for them. The franchise that pays them the most buys them. The players who are unsold during the auction signs up for replacement. In the trading windows, the player has to agree in order to be traded. The franchise also needs to pay the difference of amount between the new and old contract. The player and the older franchise shares this difference in amount. There are three trading windows held- one after the auction is held and two are held before the auction.

The few rules of the team in this season are :

  • There are at maximum 8 players from overseas in each squad.
  • The squad can have 18 to 25 players.
  • The salary cap must not exceed ₹80 crore for the entire squad.
  • If the Under-19 players have not played in List A or first class cricket earlier, they can’t be picked for the match.
  • During playing eleven, there can be 4 players from overseas at maximum.
